Chapter One: The Tides of History
Before 1197 - Transylvania
Chapter Synopsis & GM Prep Notes
The chronicle begins in the grim and politically fractured landscape of late 12th-century Transylvania. The fledgling coterie is summoned to the muddy, bustling streets of Buda-Pest, where secret alliances are forged in the shadows of a dim tavern. Here, under the watchful eyes of ancient patrons, the characters must navigate initial clan rivalries and cryptic prophecies before setting out into the perilous Carpathian wilderness.
Their journey leads them through the treacherous Tihuta Pass, a site of fierce supernatural and mortal contention. Along the way, they witness the strange geomantic rituals of Zelios, face heavily armed Templar convoys protecting mysterious treasures, and seek shelter in forbidding feudal castles. The encroaching wilderness hides not only beasts but the sinister machinations of Tremere warlocks plotting within the formidable mountain fortress of Ceoris.
Ultimately, the coterie's path will drag them into the true nightmares of the land. From chaotic clashes with the Inquisition in a nomadic encampment to the stomach-churning horror of Yorak’s Cathedral of Flesh, the vampires must confront the ancient, dormant evil of a Tzimisce Antediluvian resting deep within cyclopean crypts beneath the earth.
