The Deep Chasm presents a terrifying rupture in reality, breaking through the ancient stonework at the back of a desecrated crypt. A massive, bottomless dark pit dominates the center of the map, creating an immediate and deadly environmental hazard. Glowing, unnatural fungi cling to the crumbling rock edges, casting an eerie, bioluminescent dim light that plays tricks on line of sight and creates unsettling shadows. Tactically, this map revolves around the peril of the drop. The crumbling rock edges provide precarious footing, forcing movement checks and rewarding classes with forced movement abilities like shoves or telekinesis. The lack of substantial cover means ranged attackers must rely on the dim lighting and the terrifying verticality of the chasm to survive. GMs can utilize this map as a gateway to the Underdark or an abyssal plane. The glowing fungi might emit toxic spores if disturbed, adding a secondary hazard, while unseen horrors could easily scale the walls of the pit to ambush the party from below.
